Iria blinked read the PaDD and let loose a small laugh as she shook her head, "Yeah better go see if your Captain will let me stay too. Call down your CEO so they can be here to help in case something goes fubar." Iria said while mostly joking but she really hoped that the bad stuff was done for the moment. She wasn't about to admit out loud she was a bit nervous about talking to a Captain she had no reference on. Carson had only told the station he needed her short term so he hadn't been given her full file. She headed out and towards the nearest lift. **~~Here is hoping this Captain doesn't mind cats that much.~~** she thought to herself as the lift carried her to the bridge.

[Bridge]

Akio was monitoring the chaos of damage reports as he stewed over the destruction of the Wyoming amidst the discovery that Dr. Sthilg was no longer aboard the vessel, lending credence to Carson's allegations. How was he supposed to know the Doctor was conspiring with the Gorn?

Iria stepped off the lift when it arrived on the bridge. She walked towards the Captain's chair slowly, and stopped well out of arms reach. She cleared her throat very delicately to get his attention or that of the acting CO. She didn't know anyone on this ship after all and just assuming only caused trouble she didn't want to borrow.

Tolkath looked over from the Science panel, he noticed a Humanoid Female, in yellow uniform, approaching the center chair. He had not yet familiar with every member of the crew but did not recall her face at all. She was unremarkable except for a particularly graceful walk.

Iria glanced over at the science station and gave the Vulcan man, she noticed his passing interest, offered up a cheeky smile and winked playfully, first her copper brown right then her emerald green left. Before she returned her attention to the person in the center seat.

Tolkath raised an eyebrow at the woman's wink and grin. Then went back to his work.

"Can I help you, Lieutenant?" Akio asked, noticing the exchange between Tolkath and the new arrival.

Iria met his gaze after she finished her quietly playful interaction with the Vulcan guy at the science station. "Just wanted to clear up an error, Sir. Lt.j.g. iria Taltos from the Wyoming is not KIA. I know because I am Iria Taltos.

"Captain Carson sent me to help in engineering during the meeting and said he and the others would be back for me later." she said lightly and honestly. No point beating around the bush. Iria just hoped she wouldn't be sent to the brig.

The ball was in his court now and she still was not sure whom she was addressing but she wasn't asking, since she figured she'd find out soon enough one way or another.

"I am sorry for your loss, Lieutenant," Akio said, referring to the rest of her crew presumed dead. "We could certainly use your assistance aboard the Hawaii. What was your duty assignment aboard the Wyoming?"

Iria nodded softly, "Thank you Sir," she was surprised he hadn't gotten upset that Carson had sent her to engineering on a ship that wasn't his to command. "Damage control was my main duty I know structural systems and pretty much the whole nine yards but damage control is where I usually keep out of mischief." She admitted freely.

"Very well, Lieutenant. I am unaware of an Assistant to our Chief Engineer, so consider yourself it. After that last battle, there is plenty to do, damage control wise. Are you going to be okay to be on duty? We do have a counselor aboard," Akio said with mild concern. He was surprised she was not more affected by the entire destruction of her ship. Akio was well aware of survivor's guilt. Hell, he even felt some after the Wyoming destroyed itself to save the Hawaii.

Iria blinked at him a moment and gave a wry grin, "I was only on the Wyoming a short time I really didn't know anyone that well. The few folks I interacted with I pretty much pissed off so. While I am sorry for their loss, I won't personally be missing anyone." She said softly but honestly. No point lying on it.

Akio blinked at the bluntness of the newcomer. Even though he did not particularly know the crew, he still felt quite bad that they had died, even when their command staff was trying to illegally remove him from command. Akio mentally noted that Iria could be dangerous. The Academy always tried to teach separating emotions, something Akio internally struggled with, yet did well enough to pass. Someone like Iria though... was she a sleeper agent for Intelligence?

Iria stood a bit straighter, "I would be more than happy to be part of your crew. Sir, I have no problem with being the assistant to your Chief Engineer if they are okay with it. Either way I will be happy to help keep the ship purring along." Her eyes twinkled slightly as she said that but she did mean it.

"Well, those are going to be my orders. Whether the Chief is okay with it or not, you'll have to ask her. She's a bit of a recluse, yet she does great work. If she's not in Engineering, she is in one of the labs, working on a project. As for the ship purring, we would appreciate that. I fear there may be... a few hairballs after the last battle," Akio smirked.

Iria couldn't help it, his use of the word "hairballs" made her smile fully, showing off her dimples fully, "Hairballs are easy to deal with, Sir. If it is okay I will get my hide back to work?" though she really wanted to laugh but she didn't want to seem rude to the guy whom had just allowed her to stay on his ship and join his crew instead of sending her to the brig because of Carson's sending her to work without telling him.

"Granted. Make sure you find yourself some quarters," Akio said before Iria started to leave. "Welcome aboard, Lieutenant."

Iria nodded, "Aye Captain, thank you for letting me stick around." She turned around in a graceful twist and headed for the lift to go back to engineering. The matter of quarters could be dealt with once the ship was back to one hundred percent across the board.

Once she had cleared the bridge, Akio turned to Zamora. "Do you think we need to keep an eye on her?"

"Of course she should be vetted sir," Juan replied. "But, I'm not particularly concerned, it seems she was a bit of an outsider among her former crew. I doubt that any conspirators would have brought her into their confidence."

Akio nodded. She seemed to be a bit of a junior officer. "Very well. Let's keep an eye on her, yet nothing official," Akio whispered to Zamora.
