Mission:
He ho'omaka hou 'ana - A New Beginning
Location: Captain's Ready Room - Deck 1
Timeline: 0700, 30 Dec 2388
ON:
Akio was in his ready room, looking out the window at the blue planet below.
"Computer, record log entry," Akio commanded. He realized there were very few log entries he had made, yet the crew had made significant progress.
"Captain's log," Akio said as he recited the stardate from the chronometer. "We are in orbit of Bre'el IV still as we have completed our away missions. Our staff is currently analyzing the mysterious transmissions and we are conducting crew transfers and I am releasing the crew on 48 hour liberty.
"Despite these mysterious transmissions, we have completed our shakedown cruise and successfully negotiated the use of the Bre'ella's transport and supply vessels for the Gorn Theater.
"In addition, it seems our success has not gone unnoticed nor the importance of this planet. The Federation is establishing the Bre'el Diplomatic Mission and subsequently, they will require some Starfleet Personnel to operate. As a result, many of our crew is being transferred to support their staff.
"Lieutenant Ren has been transferred to provide Flight Control services.
"Lieutenant Nimh has been transferred to assist with Operations from a Starfleet perspective.
"Lieutenant Junior Grade Elliott has been transferred to the Mission's Security Team.
"Lieutenant Salmon has been transferred to the mission staff to provide Scientific expertise.
"Lieutenant Junior Grade Thomas has been transferred to the mission staff to provide Intelligence expertise and report on any additional substantive matters from Bre'el IV.
"First Lieutenant Tarif has been transferred to the Mission's Security Team.
"Despite these transfers, we also have many new crew arriving. Two of these new arrivals, Lieutenant Junior Grade Cortez and Ensign Jones, caused a security incident that went viral among Bre'ella social media that caused a diplomatic headache. Lieutenant Fallon is leading an investigation into what happened.
"Nevertheless, the Diplomatic Detachment was quite impressive, led by a very senior Lieutenant, Juan Zamora. I think it is time he became a Lieutenant Commander so I am promoting him.
"It seems Lieutenant Marian will be a good fit as XO. I am also promoting him to Lieutenant Commander.
"In addition, our Chief Engineer has proved very useful, especially during the away mission. I am promoting her to Lieutenant.
"I heard from Major West that Captain Kage has been very instrumental in getting the marines settled aboard the Hawaii. He will be receiving a Good Conduct Medal.
"Lieutenant Fallon has also been quite helpful as a former command member and a good voice that offers the alternative viewpoint, ensuring we do not fall into groupthink. I am awarding him a Good Conduct Medal."
Akio paused as he turned back to his desk, thinking if he forgot to mention anything else.
"I will be holding an all hands call where we will hail our new arrivals and bid farewell to those departing. During the call will be the presentation of awards and promotion ceremonies before I dismiss the crew for their liberty.
"Due to the incident on Bre'el IV, I am restricting the officers involved in the incident to the ship. While it pains me that Lieutenant Fallon's personnel do not get to enjoy liberty, the investigation is paramount to ensuring our budding relations with the Bre'ella are preserved.
"With the conclusion of our shakedown cruise, we now move onto the Gorn Front. It's time to bring the war to the Gorn."
OFF:
We won't be simming the all hands call, so feel free to make reference to the ceremony if posting after 31 Dec. Congratulations to all promotees and award recipients!
IC, 31 Dec - 2 Jan will be our liberty period in orbit of Bre'el IV. If you are not restricted to the vessel/working on the investigation, you may feel free to go planetside.
I will be posting the new mission shortly and will be moving all in-progress posts to that mission. Please do not post under He ho'omaka hou 'ana - A New Beginning any further.
This was an amazing first mission. Great job to all crew no matter when you arrived!
Akio Tachibana, CDR, SF
