ON:

Akio read the damage reports. They had taken a walloping in battle and repairs were still underway.

Canterra IV's space was secured, though. They were trying to reach the marine special ops teams still after jamming preventing much of the communication during the space battle.

He looked out the window as he often did, staring at the stars. Once again, the Hawaii had faced insurmountable odds and the crew had done their best and overcame them.

Akio only hoped the marines on the ground were facing similar success.

He looked back to his desk. There were quite a number of commendations to be written up after this battle.

Akio had also received word that Captain Ramsey sent his regards on the success and to send over his own personnel records because he was being nominated for the Defense Meritorious Service Medal.

Additionally, the Hawaii was set to receive some additional crew transfers, which Akio was thankful for, yet wondered how the new crew dynamic would be impacted. It just seemed like the current crew was working so well together.

Akio opened a drawer that contained boxes... he pulled a couple out and started drafting up promotion notifications through the proper departments.

LTJG Tevran was being promoted to LT and LT Cassidy was being promoted to LCDR.

Sgt Walken was also being promoted to Staff Sergeant (SSgt), yet Akio usually didn't carry marine insignia and hoped the Major had some.

After he sent the messages out, he called for a meeting with the command staff to update them and to organize the ceremony to present all the awards and promotions, once the ground teams had returned and the decorations finished their bureaucratic journey.

Akio powered off his terminal, and exited his ready room.

[Bridge - Deck 1]

"CAPTAIN ON THE BRIDGE!" someone shouted, Akio was too distracted to recognize who... it had been a long day and he was still thinking about another list...the list of the dead and wounded.

"As you were," the Captain replied reflexively.

Akio wanted to get some rest before the next battle, whatever or whenever that may be...

On his way through the corridors, as he passed by officers and crew, each one saluted and smiled, some even congratulating the Captain.

Akio was not even sure how to feel about everything. Did they know how many of their fellow crew died in the last battle? Was this a success?

Starfleet seemed to think so and for many, that was enough.

Akio wasn't sure though. They destroyed two Gorn vessels and the rest of the fleet bugged out. That was hardly a success in Akio's book.

It was a tactical victory with the war yet to be won.
