Iria read over the note Isis had sent her, there were a group of orphans that have shown clear signs of being Isiseans but had as of yet not shifted. They would be brought to the hub a few times in the week to see if they would be willing to trust anyone to teach them. The ages were seven months, two eighteen month olds and two three year olds. A group of five of them. She wasn't sure how it was going to go but she was willing to try. Iria brought some snacks, tiny sandwiches cut for small hands and mouths. Cookies both chocolate chip and sugar cookies. Kid safe cups, sippy cups. She found her grand library program running and followed Isis through the new entrance to the hub on the third level of bookshelves. The entrance was never in the same place and never the same for any other program that was running to allow the guides numerous ways to guide folks to the hub. How they did it though she did not know. Iria was tempted more than once to study the base programming but decided she did not want to offend the guides or anyone else. Curiosity was one thing getting into trouble over it was not always worth it.
Iria was met by Emony as Zoisite brought the orphans through. She wasn't the only one Isis had called it appeared as Iria recognized one of the guys that had been browsing the text board for information during her first time getting used to the hub. She was planning to tell the Captain and a few others, about the hub and her ablilites, but the time wasn't right yet.
He gave her a smile then turned to face Zoisite and the orphans.
It was slow going at first. None of them would even speak to Iria nor Traeds as he called himself. They enjoyed the sandwiches and cookies in silence. Iria walked behind one of the screens and came out again in her Auburn furred angora form. The kids froze watching her.
She walked back and forth several times each time appearing in her human form or feline.
Traeds started after ten minutes of her attempts. He turned into a Ragdoll with green eyes.
Then, "Again!" The kids yelled. Iria and Traeds made a game of it from then on tag and hide and seek. By the end of the hour the kids had opened up to talk to them but had not tried to shift yet.
"Lieutenant Taltos your time is up!" The computer intoned.
Iria got to her feet, picked up her empty tray and waved as she headed out briskly walking out and into her library. She turned around and nearly ran into the Captain.
"Ah, Lieutenant Taltos," Akio nodded.
Iria gave a cheeky grin that was more than a hair on the sheepish side, "Sorry for the bumping into you Sir. How are you doing today?" She said lightly trying to not be embarrassed for having run into him.
"I have been better," Akio said truthfully. "We at least survived."
Iria nodded, "Good tough crew we can get through anything if we pull our weight together." She said lightly as she looked up at him.
"Yes, I am thankful of that," Akio mustered.
Iria looked at him and asked lightly "Are you sure you're okay Captain?" He wasn't his usual confident self that she was more familiar with.
"Yes," Akio averted his eyes. Was he that bad at hiding his emotions?
Iria shook her head softly, "You look like you could use a cookie and some talk that isn't command related but I can understand if you don't want to talk with me, but please, talk with someone you trust." she handed him one of the last sugar cookies and gave him a cheeky grin and then started to walk away, to leave the choice to talk to him.
Akio held the cookie in his hand, looking at it. No matter how hard he tried to think of something--someone--else, Kosu kept coming up. Did he trust her?
Akio ate the cookie in a few bites and silently departed, finding solace in the small exchange with Taltos that he was looking for in a holo program.
