Dinner

Posted on 18 Jan 2020 @ 1:17am by Lieutenant Harry Stevens & Lady Sif & Lieutenant Commander T'Lara & Gunnery Sergeant Kyle Walken

Mission: Hahai i na pilikua nui - Hunting Monsters
Location: T'Lara's quarters

Walken looks at himself in a small mirror, with things finally done on the planet people had at least a short amount of time to relax a bit. He had sent out a message to Lieutenant T'Lara ask when she was free for that dinner and today was the day. He was glad to have his dress uniform, it's not like he had room for any fancy outfits only whatever could fit in his footlocker. Corporal Norman laughed, "Someone is dressed to the nines, where you off to Sarge?"

"Have a planned dinner." Walken answer simply as he opened his footlocker back up going through his collection of booze. He pulled out a bottle of Whiskey and walked towards the door out of the Marine barracks. Making his way towards the turbolift. "Deck three."

After a short trip, Kyle had stepped out of the turbolift he walked down the corridor towards T'Lara's quarters. After one last quick adjustment, he pressed the control panel outside of the door to let her know that he had arrived.

T'Lara was almost done with dressing. She had to change when she came out of sickbay. She also freshened herself up a bit. She had no idea he would be there so early. "Harry, could you get the door for me." She said she was going out for dinner a friend. She never said which friend. She didn't think it was important.

Harry rose from the couch and walked over to the door control, as the door opened to reveal Kyle, Harry asked, "So, what you doing here Kyle?" as he knew that T'lara hadn't told him about this adventure.

"Didn't think you would be here Stevens, I'm here to pick up T'Lara. The two of us arranged awhile ago to enjoy an evening of food and drinks." Kyle answered the full bottle of Whiskey clearly in his hand.

"Why would I not be Kyle I Live here," replied Harry looking back at the Marine as he stood at the door not letting Kyle in, he continued, "and for your information Kyle, She's taken so back off," as he stood face to face with him. He finished "so why don't you go bother someone else,"

"First I've heard about it," Kyle answered with a shrug as he looks down at the shorter man. "Sorry der bub, T'Lara and I already have our plans set. I don't make it a habit of not keeping my word, this jarhead has a code."

"Well now you know Jarhead, now piss off," replied Harry looking at him as he knew that he didn't like this man trying to muscle in on this, as he looked back at Kyle, he continued, " Just cos you think you are a tough marine, your nothing," as he knew that he was not going to let this happen.

"Piss off and your nothing, them is some hurtful words." Kyle just simply laughed at the officer, he had been called and told much worse by people who actually intimidated him. "I don't think I'm tough simply because I'm a marine, besides I'm not here to fight. I'm just here to have a nice night with T'Lara."

"Harry?" T'Lara had been standing there just long enough to hear the last exchanges between them. She walked to him. She forgot how much more emotional Harry was. She put a hand on his shoulder. "It is alright. Kyle and I made prior arrangements before we met. I know I made a promise to you, but I also made a promise to Kyle to have dinner with him when he returned form a mission. He has, so I must uphold to that promise. Or do you feel I should break my promise to him?"

"Alright, Dinner," replied Harry as he turned back to Walken, "But you try any funny Stuff Kyle then I'm coming for you Got it," he continued as he didn't trust him anymore than a Gorn with a hover. as he said, "I'm off to get Lady Sif from the Kennals," ans stormed off.

T'Lara watch him storm off. "I sometimes wonder how you humans think you can cope with so much emotions. It seems like a lot of hassle to me." She tilted her head an then turn to Kyle and she noticed the bottle of whiskey. "Is that for me?" she looked questioning.

"Ah, you just get used to emotions after a while." Kyle laughed softly as he extends the hand out with the bottle towards T'Lara. "Of course, it wrong to show up to dinner without a gift of sorts. I won't lie I don't know a whole lot of Vulcan cultural so I'm not sure if this is acceptable or not but it's something my family has always done."

T'Lara took the bottle from Kyle. "Thank you. As for our culture, Vulcans do not really do all this, whatever this is. We do invite guests over for a meal, but I do not recall the guests bring any gifts over." She put the bottle on the table. "I thought we might have dinner in my quarters. I had the replicators make an earth dish. I am not sure what it is, but it is called burritos. I never had that, so it should be interesting."

"Well not all human's do this either, it was something my family did and it just kinda stuck." Kyle followed her inside, "I've heard of them, they were really popular back in the twenty-first century." He took a moment to look around her quarter's. "Kinda quiet? Never really figured out how officers can deal with how quiet it is in private quarters."

T'Lara looked around. "To be honest, I kind of like it this quiet. And you do realize that with Harry living here it is not as quiet as you think." She pointed to one of the chairs. "Please, Kyle, have a seat. Would you like me to pore you a drink?" She offered as she got some closet from one of the cabinets in the kitchen.

"I guess living in a barracks just kinda grows on you, honestly I don't think I could adjust to living in private quarters for a long while." Kyle nods as he takes a seat, "I would love a drink thank you. So pitchin your tent with Harry, honestly, I'm a little surprised but hey if he is who you choose who am I to judge. If you are happy, I can be supportive."

T'Lara pored them a drink. "Harry is...eh..interesting. Something else. I think it is true what you humans say. Opposites attract. So you want to try the burritos, should be interesting trying something from the past?"

"I suppose that is true for some people, not sure if it holds for me thou but who knows maybe someone who is my opposite will come on board and knock my boots off once I meet them." Kyle laughed softly at the thought of it before nodding in agreement with his dining partner. "It's kind of fun to finally eat something you have only heard about before."

She got the dishes from the replicator and put them on the table. She sniffed above it. "It does smell agreeable." She put some on his plate and sat down. She took a bite herself and savored it. She held her fork. It is a bit spicy."

Kyle took a moment to take a deep breath and just enjoy the aroma of the burritos. The scent of beans were strong as the marine lifted his first bite with his fork. The taste was amazing, " This is wonderful." He quickly took a second bite and that was when the spice kicked in. "Hot at well, normally not a spice person but this is great."

"I am glad that you like it," Said T'Lara. "I did not know what to make for you. I do not know much about human culture. I was friends with my half sister. I did not know she was my half sister till my biological father told me. She did take me to an Italian restaurant once. Do you like Italian food? Maybe we could have that next time."

"Now that is some food I've had before and I can say I love it, so next time Italian will work perfectly. I will argue that maybe the time after that we have something from Vulcan thou, I'm curious to try some of your food." Walken answered.

"I am sure we can arrange that," T'Lara replied, "Both the Italian and Vulcan food. But I believe the Italian food is and Earth dish, so maybe you should provide the food next time. I can provide the wine. I understand the food is best taken with wine."

"Wonderful idea, thou we may need to find someplace private unless you want a bunch of marines hounding us all evening," Kyle answered as he leaned back slightly. "Not much stays private in the barracks."

T'Lara nodded. "Agreed. I will give you access to my quarters then. We will just have to make use of my quarters. I do not mind."

"Or I will ask my sister to use her quarters, wouldn't want to get another oh so warm welcome from Stevens." Kyle answered.

T'Lara nodded. "That maybe a better solution. If your sister is alright with it."

Having returned with Sif back to their Shared quarters, Harry had been disgusted with himself on how he had been with Walken, after all he was only being friendly with T'lara, and he had taken it the wrong way, as Lady Sif padded along next to Harry after being used in the Sar, Sif had been put back in the Kennels to recover from that away mission.

as he entered the room and heard chatting, he said " Kyle, I am sorry for the way I acted earlier ," as he looked at T'Lara and said," I am sorry also, and you are entitled to have friends over," He asked," Am I forgiven?"

Walken simply shrugged, "No skin off my nose there Navy, takes more than than a few words to get under a marines skin.

"You are forgiven," T'Lara said as she took a sip from her drink. "Do not make it happen again."

"Thank you, both" replied Harry as Lady Sif went bounding over to see T'Lara and say hello to her and raised her paw upon T'Lara's lap, Harry continued," It seams to me that she has missed you Love," as he gave a smile to his wife as he knew that tradition stated that the groom have a best man. He asked "Sergeant Walken, I'd like to ask a favour of you,"

Walken just kinda tilted his head as he listened to the Naval officer.

"As you now know that T'Lara and I are now getting hitched, I need a best man," replied Harry as he looked back at the Marine, "I was wondering if you would do it?" he said as he knew that as a Marine everything would be done by the book.

Walken erupted into laughed before slapping his knee and pausing for a moment, "...you were serious? Stevens, I don't even know you. We were part of an Op together and then I saw you here, the best man is supposed to be your best friend. Not the first Jarhead you've talked too." Kyle had always been one to answer honestly. "Besides I don't think Vulcan have any of those in their weddings, didn't you just start dating T'Lara? Don't you think you are moving a bit fast?"

"we are going to blend the traditions of both cultures " replied Harry as he looked back at the Marine, He continued," and I don't have many friends here to ask," as he had been a bit of a hot head of late and maybe being with T'Lara would help him in more ways than he could have imagined.

T'Lara turned to Harry. "I can not remember we discussed that. I personally would appreciate a traditional Vulcan wedding. Maybe it would be prudent we discussed this in private?"

Kyle finally stopped laughing, "Alright, I guess I should go then that way you two can talk this out. Don't need me to third wheel this."

"I'm sorry love , I just want it to be a wonderful day for you," replied Harry, "after all it is your special day,"

T'Lara got up. "Not before dessert." She got up. "And since Harry is here anyways, he might as well get a bowl too. After that you can leave." She walked to the replicator and ordered three bowls of chocolate and vanilla ice cream. "I understand this is what you humans like for dessert. Dig in! I that right?"

"Oh cool, Ice cream," replied Harry as he loved that, he continued and Don't forget Sif' he continued as the doggie treats were on the replicator for Sif to have. he finished its called Pupsicles and other pet-safe frozen treats "

Kyle simply shook his head, the Chief of Security was rather childish. Walken just laughed at the thought of him going through basic. "Not really a dessert person just a small bowl will be fine."

"Hey Kyle, I have another favour to ask you," Harry stated looking back at the Marine, he continued," I know I was rather slow and out of shape on the mission," as he heard the replication unit start its work, Harry finished," Would you help me get back into shape before the next away Mission?" as he asked the question.

"Stevens, I'm not a physical therapist, besides I have my own unit to take care of and work with," Kyle answered.

T'Lara got the requested treat for the dog and gave it to Sif. She then put a small bow of ice cream in front of Kyle and a bigger in front of Harry. "You know, Harry, why don't you start out a working schedule for the Security department. Like the Marines, the security do need to train as often as possible as well."

Harry looked back at Kyle and asked," would you be willing to help me do that Kyle?" posing the question to the Marine.

"Not my pig, not my farm." Walken simply answered as he finished up the small dessert, pushing in his seat he nods. "Thanks for the wonderful evening, I look forward to our next dinner date T'Lara." Kyle turned and walked towards the door of her quarters.

T'Lara got up and walked with him. "Thank you for being here. I hope you have a great meal." She looked there and tilted her head as she looked curious to him. Then she tapped his shoulder. "Good night."

"It was a nice evening Miss T'Lara and a wonderful meal." Kyle turned when he felt the tap on his shoulder, "I hope you have a wonderful remainder of your evening." With a quick wave, he exited the quarters.

T'Lara started to clear the table and clean up, quietly. She then sat down on the couch. She folded her hands and then looked to Harry. "Harry..." She started calmly. She sighed. "Come sit next to me." She gestured to the couch and waited for him to join her.
