More complaining Klingons

Posted on 29 Jan 2019 @ 3:22pm by Ensign Arthur Jones, Son of Ruk (Jan 2389 TRNSFR After Second Battle of XFY)

Mission: Ka Hakaka Maikaʻi - The Good Fight
Location: Ruk's quarters-USS Hawaii
Timeline: Post mission debrief

Arthur entered his quarters, poured himself a bloodwine, and laid down on the couch. His head was swimming with the crash from the warrior's high he had during the battle. He winced as he grabbed the cup, and looked down at the cut on his hand. He had gotten it when the ship got hit at one point, and his Dk'Tagh had slipped free. He grabbed for it, and managed to get it, but not before slicing his palm a little.

He treated the injury himself, used to similar incidents growing up, Klingon children were encouraged to play with sharp objects in their training. He also logged in to the terminal, placing a call to Qo'noS.

"Starfleet! Please state your business on this channel!" A female Klingon shouted when the channel was picked up. Arthur responded calmly, "I'd like to speak to Captain Ruk."

The Klingon was silent for a few moments, before snarling, "he's busy! Besides, he wouldn't want to speak to you anyway, human!"

Arthur leaned forward, putting his arms on the table and rubbing his forehead quite forcefully, frustrated. This was obviously a new officer, and one unfamiliar with him. "Look, is there someone above you available? He would want to talk to me, and unless the time difference is more severe than I remember, he shouldn't be too--mom!" Arthur cut himself off as he saw Uyanna, his adoptive mother, walk up.

"Jakith, what seems to be the problem?" She said, looking at the screen. "Oh! Hello Arthur, would you like to speak to your father?" Jakith's eyes widened as she looked between her superior and the screen.

"This Peta'Q is your son?!" She said, incredulously. Uyanna nodded, "next time, pay attention to me when I tell you my family! I don't tell you this to hear myself speak!"

Arthur sat back, listening to his mother verbally berate Jakith. "I told you when you arrived that I have an adopted son. His parents died with honor protecting my husband from corrupt Starfleet officers. After they abandoned Arthur at age 5, Ruk took him in and brought him home. We adopted him a few days later. He's a full fledged warrior, a citizen of the Empire, and I told you not to hold him up if he calls!"

A few moments later, Arthur was transferred to Ruk's personal comm. He saw his father sharpening his Bat'leth. "Ah! Arthur! How are things going on your assignment, I believe you said it was called the Hawaii?" Arthur nodded, taking a sip of his bloodwine.

"It's going good, we've recently had a fight with the Gorn. Glorious battle, we discovered a new type of Gorn ship, which we've dubbed the Apophis-class, which can separate its saucer, similar to old Federation Galaxy-class ships." Arthur said, playing with his cup.

"Drink it, don't play with it." Ruk said, not looking up from his work, but Arthur saw the tell tales signs of a smile on his face. "I've got news, you remember L'tan?"

Arthur looked up from the cup at the name of his girlfriend. "Yes, what about her?"

"She's gone to Starfleet, we've had a few officers who gave her recommendations, I just got a call she's headed your way for assignment to your ship." Ruk said, holding up his Bat'leth to admire it.

"That's...awesome!" Arthur said. Truth be told, he greatly missed L'tan, and hadn't enjoyed leaving her on Qo'noS when he left. They hadn't grown up together, her father didn't like Ruk for adopting a human into the house of Lerc, but they had met at a Bat'leth tournament when they were both 17, and had began dating shortly thereafter, so having her on the ship would be great.
