Jenny strode through the space of main engineering, eyes flitting between the busy workers as she hunted for her target. through the crowd, she spotted somebody matching the description she'd been given and approached confidently. "Lieutenant Iria Taltos?" She questioned. "I hear you're the one to talk to if I need something dangerous." She affected an innocent expression and waited for a response.
Hearing her name called Iria looked up then downward slightly she was so used to meeting the gazes of folks over five foot nine, it was a geniune surprise to meet the gaze of someone around five feet five inches in hieght. Though her mere four feet eleven inches meant she was almost always looking up at someone. She offered up a cheeky smile as she looked at the blonde lieutenant before her, "Depending on the level of danger and risk of demotion I am usually game for most things." She nodded to the back of engineering, towards the CEO's office, "Feel free to call me Iria, Lieutenant?" She wondered if she was in trouble and this was a trick to prove it but she as also curious if it was actually work or perhaps a side project with a challenge to it. Iria loved challenges almost as much as puzzles.
"Lassonde" Jenny introduced herself, sticking out a hand and flashing a sparkling grin of her own. "Call me Jenny, I lead the starfighters here. So, I was wondering if you would be interested to try your hand at reverse engineering one of those gadgets the Gorn had on their torpedoes in our last encounter?" She raised an inquisitive eyebrow as she asked.
Iria shook the offered hand and lead the way to the office, "Okay now you've got my full attention, nice to meet you Jenny." She offered the desk's seat to Jenny as she walked towards the other chair. "Have you got any scans or recorded data I can look at or is there something else you have in mind?"
Jenny took the proffered seat and looked conspiratorially across the desk as she leaned in and began to speak. "Nice to meet you too Iria. I'm afraid I haven't got much to go on right now, just the sensor data we could cull from our fighters. You might have to pull up the ship's telemetry records for the rest, I don't think they're too classified right now. I know science is working on figuring out how those torps worked too, so they might help us. if there is an issue I think the Captain might be willing to hear us out."
Iria hummed softly and nodded her head, "Okay let's see what we have to work with." There were worse things to end up working on. There were some projects already going that Iria didn't currently have access to but she doubted this side project would be deemed unnecessary.
"Creating a weapon based on the technology of the Gorn with limited to no information in any regards of that" A voice popped up at the entrance of the office "While you got the Lieutenant attention and so now also mine, why do you want to reverse it?" Deeli spoke as she entered the office and looked at Iria for a brief moment to turn her attention back at Jenny. She was frankly not interested in entering the office as she hates any kind of dialogue to begin with, but reverse engineering peeked her interest.
"Well, to be honest, I'm asking because I've been feeling a little vulnerable since our encounter with that Gorn cruiser. I figured I could ask around and see what I could do about maybe getting something a little more potent to carry under my wings for the next time we meet." Jenny explained casually. "You know, give them a nasty surprise of their own."
Iria gave Kosu a cheeky grin but kept quiet, she wasn't worried about the way Kosu had come in and how she opened with the conversation. She let Jenny talk and once she had a point to add in she would do so.
"The information regarding the last encounter was....unfortune and miscalculated by Starfleet Intelligence. Or so the official reports tates, I say they were to lazy to actually do their job" Deeli said with a smirk and walked into her assistance office looking around at her stuff "So what kind of stuff do you have in mind, I mean I do have the scans on their ship designs and I am working on something, but that is for the Hawaii itself. Not so much for a fighter"
"Maybe we can work on a different version for the fighters though?" Iria said lightly, as she looked from Kosu and to Jenny. she liked the idea of working on reverse engineering most things. it was never dull work.
"If you've got any ideas I'm glad to hear them." Jenny said. "I'm not set on any system or strategy, but I do want something out there. I mean, last time it was practically all we could do to just fly around and take pictures."
Iria didn't trust star fleet intelligence much either, especially since the trouble that Cortez had been going through recently. She waited to see what else was offered for information before she was going to chime in further. Information hepled but there was no real wrong way to go it all started with ideas then planning then models then if all looked promising and worth the risks involved then came the actual fun of implementation.
"Well let's not get full of ourselves and equal a ship with a fighter" Deeli pointed out as she grabs a photo of Iria and blinks "Plus Gorn torpedos are ...unpredictable. I need to do full extent of testing to know what systems would be affected in your fighter" Placing the picture down and looking at Jenny "The best thing I can cook up is a triad multivector that would be more useful as a shield puncher than a damage one"
"I can work with that." A gleam entered Jenny's eye as she started to muse about tactics. "It would cut my effective torpedo load in half, but getting them through the shield is the issue in the first place. I could fire them off two in a row, one to make an entrance the other to do the real damage. A reliable way to cut through a ship's shields means I could make targeted attacks against power systems, propulsion, weapons emplacements, you name it."
Leaning back to the wall as Deeli felt getting bored about talking on the subject and rather was doing something with her hands as she heard Iria wrap up the convorsation or so she hoped to. But Deeli being Deeli, it would not matter if it did wrap up or not, she would simply go.
"There are numerous applications possible all from a bit of hard work. Though I wouldn't mind helping to tackle it for the ship too."
"Okay, so it sounds like you guys have an idea?" Jenny inquired from her seat.
Letting go of a deep breath "No..." Deeli replied "I have had the designs in my head already. But they are worthless if they cant be applied towards the said Gorn ships without those scans. I need more then regular scans" Deeli was not lying about that fact, the internal designs of the Gorn ships have changed drastically that a new torp would be useless if it does not have the right information to adept on "Suck up with Akio and get me that data Lieutenant, and you will get your torp"
"I'll give it a shot." Jenny declared, rising from her seat. "It's been a pleasure talking to you ladies." She started to make for the exit.
iria grinned, "Will keep you posted, thanks for the new ideas." she said gently, as she stood up too, she would go over more details with her boss later.
Looking at her side she walked towards a panel and opens it without any regards of stating why. It became a Deeli thing to take not the regular way. Climbing into it as she closed it behind her crawling towards her next point of interest.
