Out of the corner of hir eye, Amiri saw a large being acting in a peculiar manner. She was waving frantically trying to get someone’s attention. It took Aldana just a moment to realize it was hir. Then the butchering of hir name from a member of this particular species cinched it. “me'Rhanee? Is that you?” S/he darted over to the ursine-like lifeform and wrapped hir arms around her in a hug as best s/he could. “How many times do I have to tell you, you may call me Amiri.”

Sombra perked up and started excitedly investigating. Meanwhile Luuna stood-by, she wanted to pry herself between them, she couldn’t do her self-appointed job if she couldn’t, but she was used to this type of greeting from Alpha by now, and so she sat to wait it out.

“Alright, It’s Amiri then.” me'Rhanee demurred as she wrapped her forelimbs around Amiri, returning hir embrace with gusto. Though not too much gusto, she’d learned quickly that not all aliens were set up to handle her more …enthusiastic greetings. “I didn’t expect to see you here,” She rumbled warmly. “Are you stationed on the Hawai'i?”

Finishing their embrace, Amiri gave me'Rhanee’s rear right cheek a quick grope before taking a step back. S/he’d never seen such a fine Ursine specimen, to-date s/he still hadn’t. She made hir smile as s/he took in all there was too behold. “Oh, I’ve missed you; have you lost weight? How did you know I was from the Hawai'i? Have you been here long?”

Now that there was daylight between Alpha and the other big furry, Luuna felt a bit better and relaxed. She greeted the being, nudging her paw to see if she could get some petting.

Sombra on the other paw stood by waiting to see what was going on. He nudged Alpha to let hir know he was still there for hir if s/he should need him.

…and now… the continuation…

Though Amiri’s actions came as a bit of a surprise, me'Rhanee was quickly distracted by Luuna’s prodding. She looked down and rumbled indulgently, using a single claw to scratch the canine behind her ears. Turning her head back to Amiri she started to work through the barrage of questions.

“Well, you’re not on the Detente, and there’s only one other Starfleet vessel in the area, so call it an educated guess. And you’re right, I’m not in my ‘fighting trim’, I decided I didn’t need all that bulk anymore.” She flexed one of her forelimbs, showing off the change. Where once there had been bulging biceps now she was trim and sleek, at least for an al'Hmatti anyway.

Amiri smiled at al'Hmatti taking it all in some more. “Mmm, yes, I approve. Say, are we just going to stand around here? Have you been here before; perhaps you could show us around?”

“No, it’s my first time here too” me'Rhanee let out a small self-conscious laugh. “But, I have been here a day or two, so I can show you the general points of interest. For a start, which cabin are you in?”

Amiri froze, “Oh-no!” S/he dropped to one knee, and hir guyzos gathered around hir. S/he began to gently rub each one between their shoulders at the same time with each hand. “I’ve had this strangest feeling like I’ve been forgetting something guys.” S/he stood again, with an apologetic look, “I think I forgot to reserve our cabin.”

“Oh dear.” me'Rhanee noted. “That does sound like a problem.” She made and exaggerated show of scratching her chin as she wondered aloud. “Now, what can we do about it?” And perhaps a little too quickly she grinned and offered an answer. “You know, I have just the thing! I have some extra room in my cabin, and the bed is too small for me anyways. If you like you can stay with me.”

Aldana looked down at hir loved one. “I don’t know, what do you think?”

Luuna looked slightly skeptical and head-tilted. Meanwhile Sombra gave a slight ‘wuff’ and a static play-bow, tail high and wagging.

Aldana looked to me'Rhanee and smiled. “I think that’s a ‘yes’, if the bed’s too big for you, maybe we can let them have it.” S/he suggested innocently enough hoping s/he wouldn’t come across too obvious. “Where to?”

If me'Rhanee blushed a little, it didn’t show through her fur. “Not far” she said, gesturing lazily to one side. “I made sure to book a beachfront unit.”

“Please, lead the way.” Aldana smiled. “Sounds exotic.” A fond reminiscent look came over hir face. “I’ve missed you.”

me'Rhanee looked a little surprised at this admission, “You know, I didn’t think you knew me that well.” She took a few steps in the direction of the cabin and ushered the others to follow with a wave of her forepaw.

Aldana thought it over for a moment as s/he followed. “Well, there aren’t very many other member species that have their own fur coats, so even just having another one around can foster some unspoken comradery.”

Sombra began to follow on the heels of Alpha the moment s/he moved to follow me'Rhanee.

Luuna on the other paw was investigating something on the beach that looked like a smooth shiny rock but smelled like meat. Indeed, it was some form of shelled invertebrate, and so when the shiny ‘rock’ sprouted legs, she cocked hir head and began to sniff at it.

“I always wanted to get to know you before we were reassigned, but at least having someone more like me on board still helped in a sea of pink and blue bald humanoids.” Aldana looked over to the al'Hmatti with a smile, and a slight wag to hir tail.

“That’s certainly pleasing to hear” me'Rhanee responded warmly. From deep inside her chest there came another happy rumble. “I wanted to be closer with you as well, but it seemed like there was always something in the way. I remember thinking it was always nice when we had the chance to talk for a bit. If you feel that same way, then let’s use this chance to catch up on missed opportunities.”

Aldana and hir two canines continued to follow the al'Hmatti female. “I do,” s/he said as s/he stepped up hir pace to catch up with me'Rhanee. S/he’d had thoughts of trying to hold her paw. Soon Amiri was walking side-by-side with her, but just then s/he noticed she was slowing down and Amiri noticed where they were headed. “Is that the place?”

"Home away from home." me'Rhanee intoned, gesturing to a quaint wooden structure placed picturesquely next to the beach. "Come on in, I'll give you the grand tour." She reached out to take hold of Amiri's hand and lead hir inside; followed by Luuna and Sombra.
