Conflicting emotions

Mission: He ho'omaka hou 'ana - A New Beginning
Location: Providence Fleet Yards

Aaron stared at himself in the mirror, noticing the faintest signs of bags beginning to form under his eyes. He hadn't slept well for the past few weeks--ever since the wedding and his receipt of orders to the Hawaii. It meant leaving Kameron, and that was hard.

The only time they had been apart for any extended period was when he was at the academy and Kameron was at Daystrom. When Kameron had to drop, he visited a lot, keeping the two men quite close together. Now he was having to leave again--this time to go head first into a warzone--and Kameron wasn't happy about it.

They had had their first argument after the wedding just a few days ago, when the tension the two could both feel came to a head when Aaron began to pack for his departure. Kameron accused him of not caring about his feelings, and not trying everything in his power to decline the assignment.

Both of them knew that the first one was completely untrue--Aaron owed him his life--and that the second one wouldn't have gotten him anywhere. Aaron had followed his husband into the bedroom and wrapped his arms around him, and then said the latin phrase they had used for years in these kinds of situations.

"Amor videbimus in nobis" love will see us through. It was a simple phrase, but it meant the world to both of them, and was actually what Aaron was planning to get as his next tattoo.

He pulled himself out of his thoughts and glanced back at his husband sleeping. A quick glance at the chrono told him it was 0130--4 hours until he had to leave. He quietly returned to the bed and slipped under the covers, snuggling up against his love, not knowing when he'll get to do it again.
