Reviewing the Blueprints

Mission:
He ho'omaka hou 'ana - A New Beginning
Location: Marine Command Center - Deck 22
Timeline: 27 Dec 2388
ON:
West had called a meeting for the marines since the ship was approaching Bre'el.
Kage arrived, dressed in a uniform for the first time in days. Training meant ignoring the uniform regs in favor of the needs of the moment. Still, Major West called the meeting and he and Gunny Melota were in, looking proper.
Sular walked in little worse for the wear. A sheen of sweat was on his brow. He had had his men going through drills on the holodeck as well as a recreation of the parts of the machine they would be building. They had been running through every possible simulation he could think of on what could possibly go wrong and how they could counter and/or fix the problem with what they would have on them.
First Lieutenant Tarif arrived on time to the mission briefing. He was interested in seeing what their first mission on Hawaii would involve.
Once everyone was assembled, a Sergeant informed West everyone was present and accounted for. He stepped out of his office and entered the center.
"COMMANDER ON DECK!" The Sergeant projected as everyone snapped to attention.
"At ease," West commanded as he continued walking towards the front of the room.
"Thank you for coming. As we are less than 20 hours to planetside, I wanted to ensure everyone is on the same page," West started as the screen changed to a map of Bre'el IV.
"Bre'el is largely an oceanic, tropical planet with two main continents. Our mission will be to covertly plant a long range sensor on this mountain, located approximately 30 clicks from the nearest town. Secrecy is paramount to this mission," West explained.
On the screen, the map zoomed in as it showed the mountain range located about 40 clicks south of the capital city and 30 clicks from a nearby town to the west.
"Delta Company, you will be in charge of the perimeter. From our best estimates, this mountain is only used for grazing by local ranchers, so be on the lookout for any stray animals or nosy herders. You will be aboard the USS Honolulu. Don't take the Argo joyriding though," West joked with a smile.
"Too bad, that kills Melota's plans for the week. Any engagement rules beyond the don't be seen part?" Kage asked, amused by the glowering look from Gunny Melota.
"Phasers on stun only, although I really don't want a bunch of passed out natives, so don't get too trigger happy. Our official cover story if you do have to turn people away is that the area is closed for military training," West answered.
"Bravo Company, you will be in charge of providing the muscle to piece the sensor together. The dish antennae comes in three pieces while there is a fourth terminal component. We will be taking 2 shuttles for the components while your personnel will be aboard the USS Hilo. I have requested an Engineering Officer to assist us with piecing together the sensor. Are there any other questions?" West asked as he scanned the crowd.
Sular spoke up. "Indeed a question Major. My men and I have been running through possibilities in simulations. For this device are we allowed to install a fail safe device? If somehow it does get discovered or someone tries to tinker with it, I don't think we want them to be able to examine it. I think an emergency fail safe should be installed in the device with enough explosive power to render it into enough pieces that no one will ever be able to examine it properly."
"Good thinking," West said after a pause, "Although I want the explosive only to damage the internal components and not cause an outward explosion. I'm pretty sure y'all can jury rig something like that?" West asked with a smile.
Sular thought for a moment and scratched his chin. "It's a bit more than just trying to hide the inside components. If we take a few grenades or three solid charges. It should be enough to destroy the systems and cause a landslide to bury the remains."
West considered the implications. If the sensor outpost was discovered it could still cause issues.
"Do it," West ordered.
