Ever since her adventures in Engineering Luuna had discovered a fondness for one junior officer in particular. S/he couldn't put her paw on it, but there was something interesting about her smell. Luuna had taken to following and guarding the one the others called 'Lieutenant Taltos. She hadn't been a pest mind you, nor under paw, but most of the time she had managed to stick close while ducking under desks and work stations to keep out of the way.
After her visit from the bridge, during the first few hours Iria had been wary of the canine that was shadowing her. Now though she just wasn't sure if it was just curious or what. She pretended for the moment to not see the canine though she could smell it as it had entered the room like it had on previously, it proved to be very good at keeping out of the way though. She saw no current reason to try to make it leave. At lunch time she broke off part of her tuna salad sandwich and set it on a separate plate, and set that down on the floor near the canine.
Luuna made a low long wine. She knew this wasn't her usual food, she wasn't supposed to eat it. Alpha had explained it wasn't good manners. However this was clearly a gift. She was torn between what to do. It would certainly be rude to refuse a gift also. She scooted forward and placed her chin on the feline-smelling-lady's knee and peered balefully up at her giving another shorter wine. If nothing else she could elicit pets.
Iria gave a yelp of surprise as the canine put its – in comparison to her size – rather large head on her lap as she started to eat the whining sound made her look down in confusion, she wasn't used to dealing with canines. She reached down very hesitantly and rubbed the scruff of fur behind its head, “Don’t like tuna pup?” She asked quietly.
The fish, pickled cucumbers, dressing, and bread did smell good. Luuna licked her chops. Maybe just this once wouldn't hurt. Luuna lowered her head and took a deeper sniff of it before picking up some of the bread and scarfing it down. She wanted to be careful and savor it instead of wolfing it down. Alpha would like that at least. She maneuvered around and lay down so she could more gently lick up the tuna salad.
Iria watched as the canine dug in with a wry grin, she bit into her own sandwich and chewed slowly, she read over the list of repairs that need doing and what had been completed thus far. It wasn't that bad as lists went.
Luuna slowly finished the interesting salad mixture and then scarfed down the other slice of bread. She sat up and quietly waited to see what the lady would do. She wondered idly what Alpha and brother were doing. She knew that sooner or later she would be with them again, so for the time being she would enjoy getting to know this new person that Alpha had explained was "extended pack. protect."
"Do you need a drink?" she asked lightly as she regarded the canine, as she got up and asked the replicator for a bowl of fresh water and set it near the now empty plate. Iria placed both empty plates in the recycling cycle of the replicator and tapped her combadge, =/ \=Taltos to Aldana, Luuna is in engineering again, can you come and get her please? I have some jefferies tube hatches to check on and I really don't want her to get hurt if she tries to follow.=/ \=
Aldana returned the call, -=/ \=-How cute, I'll have to find a way to put a better lock on my quarters while I'm gone. Though you should be flattered Luuna seems to have developed an attachment to you, that usually isn't easy for her breed. Thank you for letting me know, I'll be down as soon as I can.-=/ \=-
Meanwhile Luuna did start lapping up the offered water.
=/ \= Thank you, see you later.=/ \= Iria replied and looked over at the canine, Luuna, she wasn't used to any type of canine 'liking" her in either from and she was still uncertain about what this one was up too with the following of herself. She read some more of the reports and hoped that Luuna's caregiver would show up soon so she could get the jefferies tubes hatches checked over properly. She didn't want to be up all night long crawling in the jefferies tubes.
After another hour of waiting Iria walked Luuna to the quarters that were reserved to Aldana and coaxed the canine to go home. After a few brief words with Aldana Iria got back to work.
