The Frog Squad

Mission:
Ka Hakaka Maikaʻi - The Good Fight
Location: Marine Deck
Timeline: Enroute to Canterra - 11 Days out
[ON]
[Marine Command Center - Deck 22]
Bolingbroke had been working on initial plans for the upcoming Canterra campaign. He knew they had the Gorn shuttle craft and that West was hoping to build a mission around that.
Using the craft as a Trojan Horse to get into orbit was one thing, what happened if they got to the ground was another. He sat back in his chair and through through the problem for a while, then came up with an idea.
He tapped his commbadge and got hold of the Bravo Company Quartermaster.
[Cargo Bay 6]
A short conversation later and he was on his way to the Company cargo bay accompanied by Corporal Hudson.
They opened the bay and on one side they found what they were looking for in two cargo containers.
Hudson opened one, rummage around and pulled out a dark green helmet. "This is the stuff sir" he said, "Damn this thing's heavy" he set it down on the floor and poked around some more "Got a leg piece here"
Bolingbroke nodded peering in to the container "Good, I need at least one full suit, get a couple of men to help and see what you can put together. Try and find the less damaged bits if you can. Now who's the biggest fellow in Team 2, Sarn't Kadesh?"
"Oh yeah he's huge!" Hudson confirmed, referring to the Klingon Master Sergeant.
"I thought so. I'll send him down, you know what to do. Carry on."
Bolingbroke returned to his office, checked his Commanding Officer's schedule and set up a meeting with his clerk.
Next he would need some assistance with putting the equipment together and contacted the ship's Engineering team.
Finally he would need some help with the Gorn aspect and notified his new Blue Team Leader.
[Marine Command Center - Operations conference room]
Kyle was quiet as he took his seat, only one face he didn't really know but he was ready for whatever he was here to assist with.
Iria gave a cheeky grin of greeting to Edward, though she wasn't sure what he needed from engineering but she was more than happy to try and help. She sat down easily and waited with curiosity rolling off her in a wave.
Bolingbrook gave the Engineer a friendly smile.
Taking her moment to get to her seat. Deeli was just back in her duties and already being dragged into this crap. Deeli narrowed her eyes as she leaned on the table waiting for them to start.
West quickly strode into the room as a Sergeant announced "ROOM TENCH-HUT!"
"Take your seats," West ordered as he sat down and nodded to the newly minted Captain.
Once everyone was seated Bolingbroke began. "Thank you for coming. Further to your instructions Sir," He began by addressing West. "I have been working on mission plans for using the captured Gorn shuttle craft.
"I understand work is underway converting it for our use. So assuming that is done, I went on to the next step, when we get to the surface of the planet.
"Dropping the ramp and walking out in BDU's is not going to work, we're unlikely to get three paces. However, we have another option..."
He tapped his commbadge =/\= Sarnt Kadesh, come on in =/\=
The door slid open and stood there was an armoured Gorn trooper!
Walken still uneasy from his time as a POW and wanted to run forward, break the arm of the Gorn but he notices everyone seemed to be relaxed, 'Am I missing something?' he thought.
Iria blinked and then grinned, "I hope that armor was properly cleaned first otherwise you're being beyond cruel to your Sargeant there." She couldn't help the comment. Though she had censored some of it before she spoke up.
Ignoring her assistant, Deeli looked at the armor and felt rather tired to do this "The Gorn work by smell Lieutenant, if the armor is cleaned out it would be useless as they would be figured out within a matter of seconds" Deeli pointed out trying to keep her focus, maybe she was too early on duty.
Iria's cheekiness brightened her eyes with mirth, "I was meaning blood and such not the pheromones but still that rig looks very heavy in comparison to the usual Marine battle armor."
"Quite. I would be surprised if we could find more than two or three marines that could even function in it," West noted.
"It is heavy and we were not able to get all of the servos working" Bolingbroke agreed "Come on in Sarnt Kadesh" He waved the Master Sergeant in. Corporal Hudson and another Marine stepped in and helped the Klingon walk the the suit forward until he was in the room.
Bolingbroke got up and walked over to him, waving the rest with him. "Please come and inspect it. Several pieces of the Gorn armored space suits were recovered from the raiding party that came aboard.
"We managed to patch together this suit from those. We have parts for most of a second one and also we have two of the heavier weapons, a flame thrower and a sort of shoulder mounted missile launcher," Bolingbroke explained.
"My question is, with your approval, sir" This to West and then back turning to the two Engineers "Can we replicate some of these suit parts, paint them the right colors and then attach them to a standard Marine Combat EVO suit, enough to make it look like a Gorn Trooper?"
"That would take care of the heaviness, good thinking" West said, looking to the Engineers.
Iria got up and walked around the Marine encased in the Gorn armor, her eyes narrowed as she looked at the seals and where the servos were stuck. "Replication won't be the problem, it's the height and bulk that will be the trickier part but doable with some creative thinking." she said lightly.
Leaning a bit on her left arm as she looked at the armor, seeing Iria glittering all over it, she sighs and looked at the others "If you get Aki....." She almost used his first name and shrugs as Deeli took a deep breath "...If you ask the Captain to get us a cargo bay. I can fabricate a larger replication device, takes a bit of effort, but hey I got kitty over there" She points her thumb to Iria without looking.
Iria just grinned back cheekily at Kosu, before she returned her attention to looking over the armor encased Marine, "Or we use the storage areas from when we were hunting the Gorn Doctor he had holed up there, if we clear that out, we can set up there for a larger replication module."
Nodding to her "All in all we need space and time to create it. How much do you actually want?" Deeli spoke trying to be social about it, even though she would rather be back in her office and she did not even try to withhold it from her facial expression.
"We need at least five, plus some spares, so seven ideally, eight if possible?" Bolingbroke replied.
Iria glanced at Kosu and then back to the Marines, "Since we know how much you need we can get started or rather I can since I am pretty sure Kosu has another project she wanted to get started on." Iria's way of giving her Boss an out since she was looking like she wanted to be doing anything else than dealing with a project like this one. Or so it seemed to Iria from her glances at Kosu and how Kosu had been speaking.
Deeli waved it off a bit "Sure, you got my blessing Lieutenant, I got better things to do," she said as she looked over her shoulder to Iria and smiled softly at her, being thankful for this save and changed her facial expression quickly afterwards.
Walken looked around, he felt a little out of place as he spoke up. "Captain, I don't mean to sound ungrateful. I'm glad I can be here...but I'm unclear as to why I'm here. I mean the Major needs to know, Taltos and...the Lieutenant I have yet to meet are both Engineers so I understand why they are here, but I'm unsure of anything I could personally add?"
"You have had more exposure to the Gorn than any of us Sarn't Walken." Bolingbroke replied "And we need Blue Team to take on this special detail and become... what was the term you used Corporal Hudson?"
"The Frog Squad Sir" Hudson replied, "As they look like giant green frogs in those suits"
"Quite, the er... Frog Squad." Bolingbroke noted wryly and turned back to Walken.
"Looking like Gorn Troopers will get us close, but we need to be right up in their face before they work out we're Starfleet Marines. That means the Frog Squad need to stand, walk and move like Gorn. You're the only one with that kind of experience..."
"Not much room for error on this one then." Walken rubs his chin for a moment. "We will need to set aside the time and it would be best to not only go with what I know but anything we have collected information wise as well." the Sergeant recommended.
Bolingbroke nodded "I believe arrival in the Canterra system is scheduled for about eleven days from now. The team will need a day or two to practice in them, so Engineering, can you copy some Gorn suit parts and bolt them on to our Combats EVO's in nine days?"
Humming at the given data about the expected date of arrival. Deeli shrugged as she looked at Iria "What is your analysis Lieutenant?" She leaned her head on her arm that was leaning on the table and looked with dry facial expression at Iria.
Iria nodded, "Barring any unexpected issues I think we can get it done in six to ten days." If there were no issues with the Aubrey or any major repairs or further injuries to the teams. It was very doable.
Nodding to that slowly as she rose her head and looked at the marines "It will be done within five to seven days." Deeli spoke with a small grin on her face knowing that Iria would mutter about that, but Deeli knew that she did better on pressure "Anything else you need?"
"I think that should cover it" Bolingbroke nodded and turned to his Team leader
"Sarn't Walken, work with the Engineering team to get them Blue Team's EVO suits," Bolingbroke instructed "And whatever else they need to get your Team kitted out.
Also have a word with our Armorer's, see if they can get that flamethrower and missile launcher working. Any questions?"
"Well, we best get started as soon as possible then, have to make sure these things look perfect," Walken spoke softly.
"Sir, questions?" Bolingbroke checked with the Major.
"I think you and the Lieutenants in yellow covered everything. Eleven days does not leave a lot of room. Training will be grueling, yet it will save lives," West remarked.
"That's our hope sir" Bolingbroke agreed. "With your permission we'll end it there."
West nodded. "Dismissed."
The entire room stood as the Major departed.
Iria didn't countermand Kosu's words but she was slightly disappointed; she had given a time frame that she wanted to beat, but Kosu had shortened it more. It meant that her extra plans were now officially shot to hell. She had hoped to get a look at the extra equipment during the replication and implementation of the new armor. It wouldn't happen unless things actually went smoothly or they put in lots of extra hours.
