First Impressions are Important

Posted on 02 May 2019 @ 7:38am by Lieutenant Junior Grade Anyi Nila & Lieutenant Deeli Kosu (Dec-Jan 2389 - TRNSFR After Gorn War)

Mission: Ka Hakaka Maikaʻi - The Good Fight
Location: Deck 15 - Chief Engineer's Office / Deck 16 - Main Engineering Lower Level
Timeline: After "TAO Rising to OPS"

Nila was mumbling to herself as she walked towards Engineering, she figured it would be for the best that she met the Chief of Engineering since the two of them would have to work with each other. Entering Main Engineering Nila avoided talking with most people as she searched out for Lieutenant Kosu.

At the side of the relay junction, Deeli was looking at some panels and trying to carefully get the cards out as the power was still on in the relay. Some enlist personnel looked from a distance to how Kosu was working and mutters to each other about something.

Nila asked around and was lead to the relay junction Deeli was working on. She took one look at how slowly and carefully the Lieutenant was working on it she keeps her mouth shut. Not wanting to distract the engineer from her work, this was after all more of an informal meeting.

She gets the card out as Deeli smirks getting the next one "What do you want Ensign" She spoke only for Nila to notice that Deeli could see her reflection at a panel.

"Figured I should meet the Chief of Engineering, Ensign Anyi. The new Chief of Operations." Nila introduced herself as she watched Deeli work.

She did not turn, however, continues to grab the second card out and lets it drop to the floor as some behind Nila would cheer softly as the sparks fly a bit from the console, but Deeli ignores it "So you are the one going to deal with my technobabble. I can make one thing clear, you can give me advice and deal with the management of the systems. But I advise you not to order me" Some were now even muttering being surprised that Deeli spoke more than a few words.

Nila narrowed her eyes not that Deeli could see it, Nila was already thinking back to her previous Captain and the reason she had been demoted back to an Ensign. "Oh I will translate your technobabble Lieutenant, but if I advise you to listen to me you should take it. I can't order you due to our difference in rank but do not talk down to me."

"Oh please, the rank thing is not my issue. I care less when I was an Ensign" She pulls another card and puts another back in as the whole relay gets brighter and going through the system "Status" Deeli demanded as an Ensign looked at the panel "Effencie is up to 120% and holding ma'am" Deeli nods to herself and puts the console panel back and finally turned to Nila "You are lucky on one point, being a woman" She spoke and walked to her office. A Petty Officer walked to the side of Nila "Don't take it to personal, she is rather... unique person. She is brilliant on every technology piece out there, but she lacks the will and knowledge of social interaction" He whispers and shrugs a bit.

Nila narrowed her eyes at Deeli's comments, she listened to the Petty Officer but didn't answer as she entered Kosu's office. "What the hell does my having to be a woman have to do with anything Lieutenant? I thought humans had evolved past gender being an issue a long time ago?"

Rolling her eyes that Nila could not see as she was turned with her back to her "Don't judge a book by its cover is a saying that spreads over Starfleet. Favorite by the Humans I believe" She spoke and looked over her shoulder "But I am not human as my eyes might give it away, and gender is not the issue or it might be" Deeli turned to her bench and started to tweak some circuits

"Well, now we are both asses then." Nila shrugged it off, "But that doesn't change what I've said, don't Betazoids not care what gender someone is? Well if it isn't an issue why is my being a woman a point in my favor?"

"I think the human saying just blow pass you Ensign" Deeli smirks a bit and looked at her "I don't do well with male present due to my past interaction with them. Being bullied and totally beat to a pulp does not help" Deeli shrugs and looked back at the console "So I judge people by their sex and way of thinking and keep my distance"

"So you met some bad men, you are going to let something like that hold you back? What if it comes down to a point that you are stuck with only men in a life and death situation? You just gonna sit there and predetermine that they are unable to help since they are males?" Nila looked back at the main engineering. "I'm normally the one who gets told I have a shit attuite or perspective on life, but for once I'm saying it, someone." She grumbled as she began to leave the office.

She rolled her eyes and looked back down at the workbench and shrugs as Deeli looked over her shoulder seeing the woman already out of the door "For crying out loud" She walked out of the office and scanned the engineering as she found Nila "This attitude is my way of surviving every day Ensign, so far I checked your not a counselor to lecture me" She pointed out and went back to her bench

Nila laughed aloud, "Of course I'm not, unlike a counselor I'm someone who will tell you to pull your head out of your ass." Nila turned back once more. "And from what I see has any male given you a single ounce of trouble here? Because it seems to me they respect the hell outta you for your ability as an engineer."

Looking back at Nila "Your point being?" Deeli shrugs at her "I mean I can see that, but they respect the space that certain people don't respect that much it seems" She shook her head "Get back to your operation console Eli...or whatever your name is"

"Wow didn't know your head was so far up your own ass that it affected your ability to hear." Nila smiles as she walks out of Deeli's office before poking it back in. "I can see why people respect you, you are just such a wonderful person to know." She said definitely not using sarcasm at all as she walks away.

Rolling her eyes again "Yes you are sooooo experienced with reading people, I should have listened to you at once" Not following her Deeli continued to work on her workbench and shook her head slightly "Prick.." She mutters

Nila was walking out of engineering muttering under her breath, "Stuck up ass."
