Minor Wound leads to a Meeting

Posted on 20 Feb 2019 @ 7:27pm by Gunnery Sergeant Kyle Walken & Lieutenant Commander T'Lara

Mission: Ka Hakaka Maikaʻi - The Good Fight
Location: Sickbay
Timeline: Current

Kyle was hobbling his way to Sickbay, the Marine had managed to roll his ankle during some basic drills leading to what he thinkings is a sprained ankle. Had it been a dislocation he could have at least taken care of it himself but he since he wasn't sure he figured he should let some of the medical staff look it over to make sure he didn't do any real damage. He wasn't sure who was on duty since he didn't know a majority of the medical staff.

T'Lara had a busy day getting sickbay ready to leave. She walked with a padd in her hand she walked to a nurse. "Nurse, please prep these patients to be transferred to the base and have their medical files send over to the Medical officer on duty." The nurse nodded and she turned to see someone walk in to sickbay.

She walked to him. "Hello, I am doctor T'Lara. How may I help you?" She said to him in a monotone voice trying to remain as neutral as possible.

"Sorry to bother you Doc, rolled the ankle during some drills. Just wanted it to get checked out by a medical professional." He informed her as he hobbles inside. "The names Sergeant Walken, Kyle Walken."

"Greetings, Sergeant," She motioned for a biobed. "Please, have a seat, I will have a look." She walked after him with a tricorder. Once the marine was seated comfortably she started to scan his ankle. She nodded and said, "I see you have sprained it, sergeant, it is nothing to worry about." She took a hypo spray and set it and injected him. "This should help with the pain and swelling. I would advice you to take it easy for a while."

"Well looks like my guess was right." He grumbles to himself after she injected him with the hypospray. "I will try to rest it but I can't promise how long it will be, Marines don't tend to sit around for too long." The man let out a quiet laugh before he looks at T'Lara. "So what's your story Doc, I mean I've only been here a short time but I don't recall seeing you around."

"I just arrived," She explained, "From the base right in this mess." She put her stuff away. "Well, sergeant, you are good to go, unless there is something else I can help you with."

Kyle got up and slowly twists his ankle around to check it, "Seems to be working, thanks Doc. You don't need to worry, I will be sure to avoid any more needless injuries so I will get out of your hair and let you get back to work."

T'Lara nodded to him, "Yes, Sergeant, that would be prudent. Though your presence here was not inconvenient for me, as it has been for you. Your training session was interrupted by this."

"Not that much of an inconvenience for me either, these are drills I run quite often beside I will be back at them soon enough." The marine stretches his arms. "It's always a bonus to meet someone new as well Doc."

"Yes, it is always agreeable to meet someone new. And I..." She thought a moment how to compliment the sergeant. "It is nice to meet you," She finally said simply.

"Good to hear Doc, look forward to talking with you again. Just hopefully next time it's not because anyone is hurt." Kyle bends down and gives the ankle a very soft and quick poke.

"I look forward to it too, Sergeant," T'Lara said, "I do not believe there is anything else we need to do here. I do not want to kick you out, but I really need to get back to work."

Kyle gives a small two finger wave before he leaves the Doctor and Sickbay so she can get back to work.
