1st Marine Platoon Reporting In

Posted on 27 Nov 2017 @ 1:55pm by Captain Jason Kage (Dec-Jan 2389 - TRNSFR, Camp Revenant) & First Lieutenant Rakin Tarif (Dec-Jan 2389 - TRNSFR to Bre'el Dip. Msn.)

Mission: He ho'omaka hou 'ana - A New Beginning
Location: Deck 22

First Lieutenant Rakin Tarif wasn’t overly impressed that his platoon had been assigned to a Starship. Sure, it was a new state of the art Starship but with the Marines needed on the front line, he couldn’t understand this decision. However, orders were orders and they had arrived on Hawaii as scheduled.

The burly Bolian had been memorising the schematics for the Sovereign Class vessel since he’d been given the orders. He had ordered his troops to dump their belongings and take it easy in the Parade area while he reported in to his new commanding officer and found out where the two platoon would be situated.

He found the Marine CO’s office and pressed the chime and waited for permission to enter.

"Come," came the reply a few seconds later. The officer was a medium sized square with the UFP and Starfleet Marine flags in the rear. Jason Kage sat behind the simple desk, reading a PADD, with Gunny Melota standing at ease nearby.

Melota saluted quickly. "Lt. Tarif, I am Gunny Melota of House reHDep."

Tarif have the Klingon a curt nod. “An honour to meet you, Melota.” He then approached his CO’s desk and stood to attention. “1st Lieutenant Tarif and the 1st Marine Platoon, reporting in, sir.”

Kage put down the PADD and saluted. "At ease, Mr. Tarif and take a seat. Gunny, make sure 12st and 3rd know the rules."

Melota smiled, a fearsome sight to say the least. "I shall initiate them personally, Captain."

"I pity them, though not really." Kage replied, smiling and returning her salute as she left.

Turning back to Tarif, Kage said, "You probably have questions. Feel free to ask, Lieutenant."

“With all due respect, sir, but why are my men and I here? There are enemy’s to be faught, yet we’ve been posted to this boat.” The Bolian asked in his deep voice.

"We're special forces, Mister Tarif. This ship will be transporting us to the deepest, harshest locations in Gorn territory. We will be performing special ops, not the standard battle. More dangerous and important that line duty." Kage explained.

“I understand, sir. The assignment just feels restricting.” Tarif replied. “I’m sorry if I was out of line.”

"Mister Tarif, first rule of the Raiders battalion is we don't lie to each other. You feel this duty is restrictive, that's fair. You still have a lot to learn, but that's normal. I was worse when they sent me out of a front line squad and to Starfleet Academy. You'll adapt, as I did and learn from the experience. And you weren't out-of-line, you were honest. Mr. Tarif, welcome to Delta Company." Kage said.

The Bolian smiled, “Well, I always speak my mind, regardless of the consequences. Thank you for the warm welcome. If you point me in the right direction of the quartermaster, I’ll send my men to get quarter assignments and kit sorted.”

Kage picked up his PADD, glanced at the information and snorted. "The Gunny already has them stowing their gear. The idea of a trooper on duty standing still annoys her instantly. She and your sergeant will get them squared away. I'll send you training rotation details and job assignments for the operational periods. Any questions about weapons, speak to Sgt. Keel. Any last minute needs for anyone, speak now. We're off soon and there's no going back."

The First Lieutenant nodded his understanding. “I understand, a bored trooper could cause problems. Training and holodeck simulations will help. Could you forward me the weapons list for the ship, a few of my men have specific needs when it comes to their arsenal.”

Kage tapped his PADD and nodded once. "Done. Send special needs my way first and I'll make certain the right forms are used to cover all our collective rears. Any weapons questions, talk to Keel. He usually has what's needed in the stores, including non-standard. If necessary and dock doesn't have what's needed, we'll work on adaptation with engineering. Anything else?"

Tarif shook his head, “No, sir.” He said as he stood to attention and waited to be dismissed.

"Dismissed," Kage said and went back to work, a lot to do before the real work commenced.
