Offering a Flyboy Hand

Mission:
He ho'omaka hou 'ana - A New Beginning
Location: Main Engineering
Kannu strolled into a busy Engine Room. Technicians and Engineers were busy putting finishing touches on the Hawaii’s systems ready for her launch in a few days.
He found it strange when a ships warp core wasn’t active. The usual hum of it was always reassuring when you entered main Engineering. He then noticed the Chief Engineer working at one of the warp diagnostic stations. He approached her, Lieutenant Kosu?” He asked as he wasn’t 100% it was her.
The person turns to the Lieutenant and looks a bit awkward at him "No sir..." She points towards a younger girl that was working on some console that was pretty much pulled apart and all the gear was laying around her "That is Lieutenant Kosu"
“Oh.” Kannu replied, his face turning red with embarrassment. “Thank you.” He said quietly before heading over to the officer who was pointed out. “Lieutenant Kosu?” He asked again.
The young girl looks up at him and frowns "Lieutenant Kosu? Sorry sir but I am Ensign Tompre, the ship's Engineering Specialist" She said as the Ensign looked around and points back at the woman that Kannu had spoken to a second ago "That woman there, that is now walking away is Lieutenant Kosu, she is the Chief of the Engineering"
Ren sighed, it was the oldest trick in the book and he completely fell for it. “Thank you, Ensign.” He said, before he broke into a small jog across Engineering to catch up with the Engineer. “Nice little prank, Lieutenant.” He said as he fell into step next to Kosu.
Seeing the Bajoran stand next to her, Deeli shrugs "I have no idea what you are talking about Sir" Deeli said looking away as her cheeks get a bit red "But what can I do for you?" As she continued her walk towards her office. While entering the whole office was a mess, everywhere PADD's, cables, wires, chips and gear as Deeli walked towards her desk trying to find something.
“Actually, I was wondering if there was anything I could do for you,” Kannu said as he slowly glanced around the messy office. He didn’t judge though, he couldn’t imagine the amount of paperwork which was required to launch a new Starship. “I’m Lieutenant Ren, Hawaii’s new Flyboy. Just wondered if there was anything I could help you with to get the ship ready?”
That actually made her stop with digging into her pile of 'paperwork' and made her look surprised at the Lieutenant "Not to sound rude sir, but how?" Deeli was for the first time in her life surprised. She never had a person that was not even close to her field of expertise, let alone a mere flyboy.
“I know my way around around engines.” Kannu said with a grin. “Used to have to maintain our own ships in the militia, none of this different field of work malarkey that Starfleet has. If it needed fixing or sorting then we done it ourselves.”
Shaking her head "I got already a full staff out there that are working around the clock to get the ship going" Deeli pointed as she wanted to end this conversation as soon as she could "So I am covered with that as it is....anything else?" Deeli shrugs and noticed that it sounded kinda harsh "I mean...sorry, I am not good at this"
Ren shrugged his shoulders, “Ok, just thought I’d offer. At least we’re got introduced...finally.”
Feeling guilty hearing Ren talk as if he was disappointed. Deeli digs into her PADD and looked at it, then throws it over her shoulder "No.." and grabs another looking at it with great care "Yeess....No" Throws it also over her shoulder and grabs the next one "Yes..." Deeli turns around and throws the PADD to Ren "If you want to help, I guess you can help more yourself in this case. The navigation systems need an update and who better to do it then you?"
Quick reactions from the Bajoran meant he caught the PADD which had been tossed in his direction. It was probably more luck than judgement but he’d take it all the same. “Sure, I can’t see a problem with that.” Ren said with a smile as he thumbed through the contest contained on the PADD. “I’ll get to work on this right away.”
Nodding towards him "Good, any problems and I...my engineers can help you out" Deeli still felt uncomfortable with the idea to interact with people. But she had to face the music one day.
“I’m sure it will be fairly straightforward.” Ren said as he tapped the PADD in his hand. He wasn’t quite sure but this conversation just felt awkward. “You ok?” He asked concerned.
Deeli looked at him and wonders how to respond towards something like that "I am fine Lieutenant" She bluntly replied without much emotion added to it and looked back at her pile of PADDS "Thanks for asking.."
Ren shrugged, he wasn’t going to push the Engineer. “Ok then. If there’s nothing else I’ll leave you to it.”
