Mission: Ka Hakaka Maikaʻi - The Good Fight
Location: XO's office
Timeline: 1115, 15 Jan 2389, Sometime after "Sweet Iced Coffee"

Rora walked down the corridor and after double checking the directions and location numbers she rang the door chime. Her vivid red curls were tied back in a tight french braid that trailed down her back. She hoped she wasn't interrupting anything important or another person's interview with the Hawaii's First officer.

Juan was glad for the interruption when he heard the door chime. Since arriving at Xavier, the ship had gone from understaffed to receiving a glut of new crew members. Consequently a glut of new files was making its way across his desk, records, rosters, requests, assignments, he was drowning in paperwork.

"Come in please." he said in a professional tone.

Rora walked in and paused in front of the First officer's desk, she offered up a smile as she spoke, "Ensign Rora Tai reporting for duty to the Hawaii, Sir." She hadn't expected a transfer but she wasn't about to question a bit of luck over a (in her opinion pleasant surprise) reassignment. It was better than making patrol runs around the station through the debris field.

Juan noted that this new addition, like many others, seemed pleased to be here. They may be proliferating through the fleet, but a Sovereign was still a prime posting, some measure of excitement was probably unavoidable. Still, he hoped they had a stomach for 'adventure.'

"Welcome aboard Ensign" Juan replied. "We're glad to see more qualified pilots coming our way."

Rora smiled and offered her hand before her transfer orders. "I look forward to flying for the Hawaii, Sir." She loved flying form ships to shuttles and other small craft when allowed.

Juan took her hand, offering a polished smile of his own. With his other hand he held up the PADD and perused her orders with quick glances. "You will be under the direction of Lieutenant Cassidy while you are here, and it seems you will be helmsman for section three."

Rora blinked at him a moment she frowned slightly and blushed as she asked lightly, clearly embarrassed that she needed to ask, "Section three Sir? I thought there was only the bridge and secondary bridge on deck 15." She was obviously confused. "Do you do a four or three shift system? I was on Beta shift for the station, but I can work with any shift. If that makes a difference, Sir?"

"Oh, yes" Juan said with a note of chagrin. "I apologize, the shifts are called sections on the Hawaii. You'll soon grow so used to it that you forget they were called anything different. So that would mean you man the helm for delta shift, and your watch station will be on the main bridge." He leaned back in his seat and looked at Rora sympathetically. "I'm sorry I made that more confusing than it had to be."

Rora smiled still blushing but now amused slightly, "Oh that's fine, Sir better a bit of confusion then stupid mistakes." She would take time to look up the section schedule to be sure she had the right times in mind. "Not that I expect trouble Sir but where do you want me during Red Alert or is that better hashed out with Lieutenant Cassidy?" She asked lightly.

"Right to business I see, well, that ultimately is something up to Lieutenant Cassidy, so you will need to speak with him. However, red alerts often mean our marines are planning to go somewhere, that takes pilots. And without a designated space battle manager on staff, we do need somebody to serve as the shipboard contact for our flight of valkyries. Other than those two possibilities, your most likely battle station would probably be at an auxiliary navigation station." Juan explained.

Rora smiled brightly, "Well considering that stack of PaDD's if I stuck around asking further questions I might get you behind then you might not enjoy our next meeting so well." She would otherwise enjoy talking and learning more about the First officer including his name. Though she could always look up the roster later of course.

"This..." Juan indicated the work currently cluttering his desktop "...will get taken care of. The crew members in front of me take precedent, so if you do have more questions I am here to answer them. And thus far your visit has been a welcome break from filing, I'm sure I wouldn't mind if you came again in the future."

"Well Sir only other pressing question would be be do I share quarters with another or an I lucky enough to have a single occupancy?" She had plenty of other questions but she didn't want to overstep nor overstay her welcome. Station side had been crowded because of recent events four to a room had been in a word awkward but they'd managed mostly. Rora didn't mind sharing a room but she wouldn't enjoy rooming with three others again.

"For now, while we are still filling the ship, you will have your quarters to yourself. If we can ever get closer to fully staffed in all of the departments, some of the junior officers may have to share again, but presently we still have some measure of extra space to fill." Juan explained. "If that addresses your concerns ensign, you can be dismissed."

Rora smiled and nodded, "Thank you for your time and the explanations, have a pleasant day, Sir." She turned and headed for the doorway.
