Arrival Procedures

Timeline: 14 Jan 2389, After 'Translation of duty: Who are you?'

For a ship in Hawaii's position, Juan had grown nervous about how short handed she really was. Their position was still preferable to what he'd seen from the Devonshire, or heaven forbid, what had befallen the fleet yards. This made the Trickle of new personnel they were getting rather encouraging, even if Juan did still dream of a full roster. Right now, he had the pleasure of greeting a new addition to the science department, the ship's eyes, ears, and brain, out in this far corner of space.

That new edition was Saatynn, and one glance at him could tell you he wasn't a 'normal' Vulcan. Green eyes (the shade of which made it obvious they were artificially colored), the ponytail in his hair to keep it out of his face, and the smile on his face were dead giveaways that something was less-than-typical about this particular Vulcan.

He noticed a Commander in red nearby, and remembered the face from the personnel files, so he approached, "Commander Zamora?"

"Mr. Saatynn" Juan greeted the newcomer with practiced ease. "It's a pleasure to make your aquaintance." He discreetly ran his eyes over the unusual figure in front of him. "Welcome aboard the Hawaii, we're glad to have you join us."

"Its a pleasure to be here." Saatynn smiled. "You're the XO, correct?"

"Yes, Commander Zamora at your service." He offered a hand. "Day to day you'll be under Commander Tolkath, but my door is always open."

"Hopefully there won't be a need for me to disturb you. I'm sure you are a very busy man." There was a somewhat joking tone in Saatynn's voice.

Juan had to make a quick guess how he should proceed, and joked back. "Well I certainly like to convey that impression at least." He grinned photogenically.

Saatynn made a mental note that it was hard to knock this man off his game with mere words. He pulled out the PADD containing his orders, and handed them to Zamora. "I see your chief science officer is also a Vulcan."

"Yes, commander Tolkath, I think you'll find him to be very... efficient." Juan arched one eyebrow as he wondered if he might have to keep an eye on these two.

"That sure is a polite way to refer to Vulcans. Noted." Saatynn said, nodding, "and I'm sure he'll find me the same." He continued, hoping to make a good first impression.

"That's good to hear, I look forward to working with you Lieutenant." Juan said, perusing the new arrival's orders. "Would you like any assitance getting settled in?"

"No, I'm alright. Thank you though."


"Then I wish you good luck in your time aboard Lieutenant." Juan offered before moving away down the corridor.
