Akio sat down and immediately placed a secure call to VADM Anin.
Anin's face appeared on the screen, while not seeable on her face, she was not in the mood for another discussion. Looking calmly at the Commander “Commander?”
"Good morning Admiral. I apologize for disturbing you; however, we have an urgent matter on which we require command guidance. The Hawaii is currently less than 20 hours from Bre'el IV when we received the following message," Akio explained before playing the audio.
"Bre'el IV to USS Hawaii, we do not want any part of this war. Please keep your distance."
Message repeats.
"Our orders state to make contact with Bre'el government representatives to ascertain the availability of their transports, yet whatever permission we had, assumed or explicit, appears to have been revoked. What are your orders?"
For a good minute Anin did not say anything as she was clearly looking at something on her screen “This is unusual, the government of Bre’el was the one that contacted us for a plausible dialogue.”
"Well, that does answer one of our questions we had here. It appears that something has changed in the intervening time, then. Do you want us to still make contact, ma'am?" Akio asked.
“Seeing the current condition and state we are at with the Gorn. I do order you to continue your journey. But be careful when entering their space, we don’t need another diplomatic incident. Scan the area for anything out of place and approach them by shuttle as transporters might jump them,” Anin advised her new young Commander. “Investigate what is going on.”
"Yes, ma'am. Thank you," Akio bowed and the call ended.
Akio sighed and looked out the window. If Bre'el contacted them, what happened them in the intervening time to specifically warn a Federation starship to stay away?
Akio stood and adjusted his uniform as he headed back to the bridge to give some command guidance of his own.
