Mission: Ne Me'e Laua Na Paio - Heroes & Villains
Location: Cortez's Quarters
Timeline: Prior to "Aloha Wyoming"

OOC: R is from Starfleet Intelligence, but Cortez doesn't know that at this stage

On:

Eira looked at the PaDD again.

Miss Cortez,

I fear that your brothers aren't doing too good. You should've seen their faces when we showed them a file that had your picture with big red letters that read DECEASED on it. Evil, I know and yes I'm laughing now, because I could see the light fading from Aidan's face and it was priceless. They're starting to lose hope in getting out of here alive. I doubt they're still keeping that tiny bit of hope you're still alive going either.

Just a bit of an FYI, the Gorn Chief Medical Officer Sthilg is going to be used as a stepping stone to try and remove Tachibana from Command. We've put the appropriate wheels into motion and it's not going to be long before some people might put two and two together to get you out of it if you don't play your part right, so cooperate and we have the ability to make everything go away. You should know this by now, Eira. We know all about you.

You're going to be in attendance at the conference to be held later on today. The information here in after is to be presented at this conference with apologies and excuses. You will know full well that there's more information than what you are letting on but you cannot betray any emotions that would give you away. I'm sure you understand this, yes?

Remember that we're always watching you, that your brothers lives and your freedom are riding on this task. If you fail us, you know the consequences.

By the way, watch the video I've attached, it's amazing.

- R

The video attached showed Eira exactly what R had said: Aidan's reaction to his little sister being dead. When her name was mentioned, his eyes got a spark of hope in them that she was okay. Then he slumped when the word deceased was mentioned, it was instant game over for him. Just that alone broke her heart and caused tears to form in her eyes. When it showed Dustin and his reaction to the news, his face didn't give away anything, save for a single tear that ran down his face.

The screen went blank for a few seconds and then panned over to her brothers again, this time they were bloodied, bruised and broken. Dustin's entire face was swollen and bloodied with cuts and a broken nose from an unknown person who'd worked him over good, his shirt was ripped and bloody from a non-fatal stab wound to his stomach. Aidan was in the same condition with a similar stab wound and what appeared to be a broken arm and shoulder. A voice over started to play: "You know the consequences if you don't play your part." Eira let out a squeak at the sight of them both and her eyes started to well with tears.

She was still in disbelief at what the person known as R was asking of her, what he'd gotten others to do. The complexity of the entire situation was impressive to say the least, but also on a much larger scale. Seriously, if she survived these next coming months, Eira would be needing some serious therapy and counselling sessions.. if she wasn't locked up for crimes against the Federation, that is. She had absentmindedly gotten up and started pacing the end of her bed while trying to think about everything. Maybe she should come clean and turn herself in, face the consequences of her actions and maybe get a lighter sentence. Maybe if she did as this mysterious R person said, she'd get her family back. Even though they drove her crazy, Aidan and Dustin were all Eira had and cared about.

The facade she'd been putting on finally crumbled: Eira collapsed onto the floor and started to cry.
