Personality & Traits
General Overview | She is very dedicated to her professions. Having studied veterinary medicine and then gone on to study human medicine she was ready to take on both and see the stars. She is a selfless person in that she goes all out for her patients whether or not they are animal or human. She will go the extra mile to save both and even rescue them to try to help them. She has no regard for her own safety and will go into situations that others would not go into.
Strengths & Weaknesses | As with all Betazoids, too much of anything is painful. Being full Betazoid, her empathy and telepathy are in heavy demand on starships. With all the minds on the ships it is a constant battle to control the voices but she does amazingly well in controlling the noise. She is compassionate but sometimes she can be over compassionate by trying to protect the individual or animal as a mother would a child. She does however have a fast temper when you try to cross her.
Ambitions | To be the best in her chosen professions.
Hobbies & Interests | Loves the outdoors and nature. Takes care of her own pets and takes them to the holodeck. She is interested in learning more about the human frailties and the various number of diseases that they get. Wants to be more in tune with animals as she can sense them and at times communicate with them as well as sensing their emotions. |
Personal History | Janice grew up in the shadow of her parents who were doctors in SF Medical and she in turn followed in their footsteps. Throughout her childhood, she was groomed for her career in medicine. When she joined the Academy, she was already a licensed veterinarian, so with that already under her belt, she went into the Academy Medical division. Because she was groomed from an early age, she passed all her exams and in four years became a full fledged Doctor. At the time of her graduation, the need for MD's was very much in demand and she was immediately pressed into service on the Sovereign-class ship, USS Demon. She served on that ship for a number of years faithfully and saved many patients who would otherwise have died without her expertise. For a time, things on the Demon had gotten quiet and then all of a sudden, they got orders to head into an uncharted area of space that had several planets which were dying. One however, was populated by nothing but animals. This was nothing short of a miracle for her. Beaming down to the surface, she was greeted by several animals and they started to communicate their feelings and more. From this planet she acquired four more animals as pets, all of which were rescued and they thanked her fully. The Demon was suddenly called back to space dock and out of the blue she was pulled from the ship and sent to a Starbase that needed more medical people. Not knowing what she was in for, she attempted to get all the information she could get on the mission. This mission was a dangerous one and it required her to use all of her abilities just to keep alive. Somehow she managed to save 189 souls and over 1000 animals before it got out of hand. Once back on the Starbase, she wanted another assignment but there were none for her so she had to wait. It wasn't that long before there was a post for her on the USS Wellington. So there she went on a civilian transport headed into some far-reaching part of the Delta Quadrant to meet up with the Wellington first and then the transport would head to its targeted destination. While on the Wellington, she served both the human and animal population with a new twist. Several of the crew were non-humanoid and it made for a challenge. She learned new aspects of several of the Delta Quadrant species and was amazed by the diversity of so many new species. For three years she stayed until the Wellington returned to its Starbase and the Admiralty pulled her off and have reassigned her to the USS Hawaii as her new CMO. |
